Cargo Insurance Minimums -- No Longer Mandatory?

Is it significant that on March 21, the FMCSA is eliminating mandatory BMC-32 cargo insurance covering for-hire motor carriers and freight forwarders that do not transport household goods? Possibly. It places an unusual burden on brokers and shippers to mandate insurance policies from their carriers and it begs them to ask to be named as an additional insured on the insurance policy as safe measure.

The BMC-32 provided some small level of protection against loss and damage.  It is reported that the elimination of BMC-32 will affect about 94,000 common carriers and freight forwarders.  They will no longer be required to prove that their cargo insurance meets Federal minimums. Even though these minimum were bare minimums, there was some coverage.  After March 21st, there may be none.

Creating Your Core Difference

As some of you know, I have begun working with Dan Kraus ofLeading Results, a marketing firm providing marketing consulting and coaching.  Dan is helping me pinpoint our vision and coordinate our marketing efforts.  Dan is presenting some short 75 minute presentations over the next few month that you might be interested in.

I will be attending all of them and will let you know what is coming up in this newsletter. March 29th at 9am, at the Trinity Church in Bolton, MA (14 Wattaquadock Hill Road, Just off Rt. 117), Dan will be presenting Creating Your Core Difference. Dan says; "The basic foundation of great marketing is being able to articulate your remarkable difference to your ideal customer. This session will help you understand how to find and articulate that difference and give you a new way to think about an ideal customer."

Join me as my guest.  Send me an email and let me know you will be attending.

Are the Naysayers on to Something?

If you paid attention to all the pundits that are calling for an extreme

downturn in the economy this year - this month, it might affect some of the decisions you are making that involves money.  It might impact your decision to save or spend.  It might change your plans. Optimism or pessimism. They seem to be keywords for how the economy is fairing.  Click here for a brief article on these

naysayers predictions. Click here for opposing and optimistic views; Airlines, Fortune, Gaming, Money.

If you listen to Glenn Beck, you will hear that there will be a catastrophic event that will shake the world economy and send us into a deep depression. If you haven't listened, don't start now.

Optimism and pessimism may be indicators. They might be indications suggesting predictability. You might want to watch a video on YouTube regarding the Elliot Wave Principle. This principle predicts the future based on the highs and lows of the past. David Touri from Sydney, Australia updates YouTube with new videos periodically.  May be hogwash, may be serendipitous.  Only the future knows for sure.

WiFi That Doesn't Reach?

Is your home to big to get a good WiFi signal everywhere? Depending on walls, length of your home, the number of floors, etc.,  you may have trouble getting a signal in every part of your home.

Netgear has created a plug-in network adapter for your power lines in your home.  Plug one near your router. Run an ethernet line from router to gadget. Plug the other gadget in somewhere else in the house. Run an ethernet line from the gadget to your device. All done. No new wiring required.

NETGEAR Powerline AV 200 (XAVB2001) Ethernet Adapter Kit

Great for connecting a stand-alone web camera to your network.  It's frequently much easier to find an outlet than a network connection.
